Breakfast in the classroom!  

Dear Parents,

     Starting April 1, 2014, Andalusia Elementary School will begin offering every student breakfast in the classroom. Breakfast in the classroom will be available at no charge to all students at the start of each weekday morning. These meals are nutritionally balanced and meet USDA nutritional requirements and will give your child the nutrients he/she needs to be productive in school.

     Breakfast in the classroom is a great way to start the day. Studies have shown that children who eat a nutritious breakfast have better behavior, better attendance, and improved test scores. Teachers will use this time to take attendance, collect homework, and share daily announcements with students. Breakfast takes only 7-15 minutes, after which students are ready to start the school day. Breakfast will be served in the classroom beginning at 7:45 and promptly ending at 8:00. No breakfast will be served after 8:00. Students should not arrive at school prior to 7:00am, as outlined in the AES handbook. Students that arrive prior to 7:30 will be housed in the gym for a study hall time until the bell rings at 7:30 to send students to class. Students are tardy at the 7:45 bell.

     This is an important way to make sure that all of our students start the school day alert, well fed, and ready to learn.
